In this paper, I will synthesize based on previous theories and researches on the role of motivation in second language learning, and provide implications on how to motivate language learners' English learning in China through the lenses of four professional knowledge areas: learning contexts, learners, curriculums and assessments, and therefore, improve students' English learning achievement.
