    Abstract

The capstone contains three parts: teaching philosophy, the interpretation of TESOL standards, and application. Teaching philosophy concentrates on what I believe in second language teaching. I am convinced that new mode of instruction in the English classrooms in China should be brought up; grammar and vocabulary are still important in the communicative language classrooms; and students’ identities when learning English should be emphasized. The interpretation of TESOL standards clearly presents how I interpret eight standards from my point of view and use the artifacts that I collected in my courses to illustrate my interpretation. The third part Application centers on how I define myself as a English teacher to speakers of other language and how I will teach English in my future classroom based on my teaching philosophy.
