| dc.description.abstract | PURPOSE: To improve provider compliance with the United States Preventative Task Force Class B recommendation for gonorrhea and chlamydia screening for females aged 14-24. Gonorrhea and chlamydia preventative screenings were the lowest and largest care gap that was not being met. Implement a provider chosen intervention with the goal to bring the baseline compliance from 19% to 50% by May 2024. METHODS: The Riverside University Health System Express Care clinics offer both preventative and urgent care to a vulnerable patient population. Utilizing the Plan-Do-Study-Act method, a baseline was obtained, and participants identified (n=12). The participants chose their intervention from a survey to improve compliance. Visual cards were selected to be implemented at all computers and data was collected monthly. RESULTS: The Express Care surpassed the goal of 50% compliance with the participants (n=12) choosing their intervention for compliance. The post project meeting discussed the improvement to include the entire clinic process for care gap compliance. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: While provider interventions aided in increasing compliance, focusing on a total clinic process that addresses the barriers to care gap implementation would be the next step to improve care gap numbers and patient outcomes. | |
