E: This study investigates the relationship between nurse engagement, the Co-Worker Observation Reporting System (CORS), and Magnet Recognition Program criteria, with a focus on improving patient safety and organizational outcomes. The purpose of this research is to explore how nurse engagement impacts CORS implementation and aligns with Magnet designation standards. METHODS: A comprehensive literature review was conducted. Articles were found via PubMed and CINAHL. Criteria were set to include only articles from the last ten years. The search yielded twenty peer-reviewed articles that were tabulated into a data collection sheet. Nine sources from government and professional organization websites were also included. The themes were analyzed, and conclusions were drawn from the major themes. RESULTS: The Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) emerged as the most effective tool for measuring nurse engagement, offering a comprehensive three-dimensional approach that captures vigor, dedication, and absorption. Findings reveal that higher nurse engagement correlates with improved patient safety outcomes, reduced medical errors, and enhanced quality of care. CORS was identified as a critical tool for fostering professional accountability, improving communication, and creating a supportive work environment. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The study highlights that integrating nurse engagement strategies with CORS can significantly contribute to meeting Magnet criteria by enhancing job satisfaction, organizational performance, and patient outcomes. These findings underscore the importance of prioritizing nurse engagement as a key driver of healthcare excellence.
