Abstract

This paper identifies the need to improve the academic achievement of immigrant and ELL children, particularly those living in conditions of poverty and proposes to do so by increasing parental involvement in children’s academic development by providing culturally responsive parent education programs. The research on the parent education programs targeted for immigrant and ELL parents is reviewed and synthesized in order to identify the culturally responsive components of successful parent education programs.
