dc.description.abstractThis study examined how summer bridge programs serve as an intervention to improve college retention. Using St. Louis University and three middle schools, this paper details how wrap-around supports benefit FGLI students in creating a college-bound identity. By living on campus, students develop a sense of belonging and learn persistence skills and strategies. Through interviews, SLU and middle school data, and surveys, we determined that the existing program only featured academic supports which led to college readiness but does not help in retention and graduation.
