Abstract
Grounded in a framework of outsourcing theory and an understanding of the Online Program Management (OPM) company market, this research explores the nature and quality of OPM partnerships at a private university. Through structured qualitative interviews with key stakeholders at "American Public University" (pseudonym), information is gathered on how these external partnerships are managed, how contracting with external partners in online program delivery has impacted the organization and general feelings about the relationships. Findings reinforce the idea that outsourcing is complex. Using the information gathered through the interviews and from a wealth of outsourcing research recommendations on how to make strategic decisions in the establishment and management of these partnerships are made.
