Abstract

My project’s focus centers on the utilization of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology to aid in the discovery of values-based living within the evidence-based practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, specifically for military service members. Focusing on the four steps within the Core Process of LSP (Question, Construction, Sharing, Reflection), along with other tactile engagement items like sand tray, crafting putty, wood-sticks, etc., to create new ways of thinking for service members who are hesitant to engage deeply with a chaplain over any myriad of issues they are suffering from. The project aims to support the efficacy of "Brick Therapy" as an active mindfulness practice and as an on-ramp for Chaplains (or care providers), offering an outside-the-box way to engage servicemembers in robust counseling relationships when traditional or didactic counseling approaches fall short.
