Move-In Day 2009 is featured; Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos, Dean of the Commons Frank Wcislo, move-in crew member Roark Luskin, parents Tar Smith and Sheila Fleming, and freshmen Erin Smith and Taylor Bolhack speak. Footage from Founder's Walk 2009 and Zeppos's address to the new students is shown. It is noted that U.S. News & World Report placed Vanderbilt 17th in their latest ranking of national universities. The passing at age 84 of the Rev. Dr. Alan "Pop" Shields, who lived with his daughter, human and organizational development professor Sharon Shields, at Murray House in the Commons and was popular with Commons students, is reported.
