Abstract

We Could Leave This Place Together is a collection of stories exploring the impulse to re-envision one's circumstances, one's life, and oneself. Similar to us, these characters are presented with opportunities to evolve through questioning their world-views and daring to re-envisioning their circumstances. In other words, they are a community of people who have changed their minds. In this collection, the family is both the scar and the salve. It is the background--the faded wash of woods--and other times it is the bullseye. Most noticeably occurring throughout this collection are many varieties of mothers who cook, drive, dance, pray. Mothers who are observed and examined for their mysterious strength.
