    Abstract

Routine analysis of cells smaller than 10 microns is a challenging task. Instruments capable of single cell analysis require advanced modifications to both laser optics and optimized instrument sensitivity to allow for the detection of the requisite numbers of molecules in a single cell.. This study applies MALDI, along with key sample preparation techniques, to the analysis of single cells. A novel transmission geometry source was used along with specific sample preparation steps required for high spatial resolution analysis of a single cell
