dc.description | Includes descriptive metadata provided by producer in MP4 file: "The Non-Violence Struggle - Video - The Rev James Lawson The Non-Violence Struggle 10-30-2007 2 of 2." Video of a class session. Lawson answers student questions at the beginning, and then the class breaks into groups to discuss, as a sort of case study, possible non-violent approaches to the problem of the increasing murder rate among juveniles in Nashville. Unfortunately it is usually quite difficult to hear the groups' reports back to the class, or the student's participation in the subsequent discussion. Lawson discusses with the class the difficulty of raising children to think nonviolently in a society permeated with physical and spiritual violence. He then lectures on the history of the civil rights movement and the nonviolent tactics used, and there are more student responses. He also expresses opinions on the nature of racism. | en |
