Professor Jack Sasson tackles the original meaning of a phrase that has "anchored a major component of Jewish dietary laws." The phrase, (lo' tebaššel gdi bakhaleb
'immo)or "you may not seethe a kid in its mother's milk" forbids the mixing of milk and meat products in the preparation of food. Professor Sasson offers another possible interpretation of the phrase.
