Finding aid for a collection. Collection description: A manuscript of 41 pages, listing 116 of the most prominent leaders in the history of Nashville, Tenn., with brief biographical sketches. This manuscript is the result of a project undertaken by the members of a senior citizens' class on the history of Nashville, Tenn. The class proposed to choose the hundred greatest citizens in Nashville history, based on their contributions to city, state, or nation. By agreement, no one was to be nominated who had not died at least twenty years before the class was held. The teacher of the class, Alfred Leland Crabb, reserved the right of veto. 154 men and women were nominated, and gradually the list was reduced to 116, but the class found themselves unable to reduce it further. A list of the persons honored may be found in the finding aid.en_US
